Leslie Rees

The Rt Rev. Leslie Lloyd Rees (born 14 April 1919) is a former Chaplain to The Queen,[1] Chaplain-General to the Prison Service[2] and Anglican Bishop of Shrewsbury.[3] He was born on 14 April 1919 and educated at Kelham Theological College.[4] Ordained in 1942, after a brief curacy at St Saviour, Roath,[5] he embarked on a long career as a Prison Chaplain.[6] In 1962 he was appointed to the head of the service, a post he held until his elevation to the Episcopate 18 years later.[7]

He is now an honorary assistant (retired) bishop in the Diocese of Winchester.[8]
